museo tecnologia patrasso

Museum of Technology - Patras

The Science and Technology Museum (STM) is aimed at the entire university community, as well as anyone who wishes to learn some aspects of science and technology in a simple and pleasant way.

Catalyze culturally aware and creative societies. The project had its foundations from OECD Handbook "Guide for local governments, communities and museums", which explains the importance and effect on the local community of the transformation of a museum from a place to visit into a "living museum", seen by citizens and local government as a central point of local development.

We have found this to be an inspiring starting point as it will have many benefits for the community and museums to:

  • to promote museums as spaces for inclusion, health and well-being

  • valorise the role of museums in local development. exploit the role of museums for urban regeneration and community development.

  • catalyze culturally aware and creative societies.

The partners

The project was presented to the European Community by the AssociationSlow Tourism South Tyrol (Bolzano) which, together with the Association Verona Vale from Verona, thought of the idea and transformed it into a project. The other two project partners are partners who have been working with local culture and museums for years: The Periferica (Almeria - Spain) and Mosaics (Patras - Greece).

Montorio Castle

The castle of Montorio has a 10th century layout and has pre-existing Roman elements; it was then completed in the second decade of the 12th century. Subsequently, during the Scaliger reorganization (second half of the 14th century), it was strengthened and expanded with the addition of the bastion.
